Dura Municipality Hosts a Delegation from the Naqab in a Unifying Palestinian Gathering

The Mayor of Dura, Mr. Muhannad Amro, and members of the Municipal Council received on Saturday a delegation from our people in the Naqab, headed by Mr. Taleb Al-Sanea, which included businesspeople, academics, activists, tribal elders and public figures. The meeting affirmed the deep historical, social and national ties that bind the one Palestinian people in the Naqab and in Dura.

Participants stressed that what unites our people goes beyond imposed borders and divisions, and rests on the unity of land, identity, belonging and destiny. They added that the current stage calls for practical frameworks and joint initiatives that serve Palestinian society, support its steadfastness, and draw on the capabilities and expertise of its people wherever they are.

The meeting addressed several practical tracks in the economic, academic, educational and community fields, including encouraging investment and trade, drawing on academic and professional expertise, building partnerships between educational and research institutions, and launching initiatives for youth, women, entrepreneurship and productive projects.

Mayor Muhannad Amro stressed the importance of turning such meetings into practical programs and initiatives that combine capabilities, expertise and resources, opening new economic, educational and social horizons for the people of the region. He emphasized that local institutions must seek real areas of work that serve citizens, support the local economy and create wider opportunities for young people.

Participants also stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the Palestinian social fabric in the face of attempts at isolation and fragmentation, and of strengthening a shared national identity rooted in a common concern, goal and destiny, enhancing Palestinian society’s ability to face challenges and protect its land and resources.

At the end of the meeting, the visiting delegation toured Dura, including the weekly Al-Omari Market in the city center, where they viewed home-made products, traditional crafts, handicrafts and the projects on display. They praised the market’s role in boosting economic activity in the city, giving youth projects and productive families a space to market their products, and supporting the local economy.
