Local Authorities Court
Local Authorities Court - Dura Municipality
The Palestinian Local Authorities Court is the judicial body competent to hear disputes, violations and misdemeanors related to the legislation governing the work of local authorities within each authority's geographic area, under Local Authorities Law No. (1) of 1997 and its amendments, and Decree-Law No. (46) of 2022 on Local Authorities Courts. Its role is to ensure that local authorities comply with the law, protect the rights of all parties, and promote justice, accountability and transparency in municipal work.
From Dura Municipality's perspective, the court is a cornerstone for regulating administrative performance and ensuring justice between citizens and the institution. However, its work still needs development in some areas, such as faster rulings, specialized legal staff, and updated procedures suited to the nature and wide powers of municipal work. This is being addressed by the municipalities and the Ministry of Local Government on one side and the High Judicial Council on the other.
Dura Municipality believes that strengthening the court's role and developing its tools directly improves the efficiency of municipal work and builds trust between citizens and their local institutions.
