Dura Municipality Implements Rehabilitation and Maintenance Works

Dura Municipality continues to carry out rehabilitation, maintenance, and improvement works in public facilities and streets as part of the Employment and Recovery Program for Local Authorities.

The project is being implemented under the “Recovery and Temporary Job Creation – Labor-Intensive Infrastructure – Rehabilitation and Maintenance of Internal Roads in Dura” program. It is funded by the World Bank and implemented through the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF), in partnership with the Palestinian Fund for Reconstruction and Development, with support from the Government of Canada through the World Bank, and in cooperation with relevant government institutions.

The works include road and concrete shoulder maintenance, landscaping and care of public facilities, installation of traffic signs, as well as cleaning, rehabilitation, and beautification works at several locations. These efforts contribute to improving the city’s overall appearance, preserving public facilities, enhancing safety, and ensuring that streets remain ready for use.

Dura Municipality places great importance on environmental, social, and public safety considerations within its projects by protecting the environment, safely managing work-related waste, maintaining cleanliness at implementation sites, and protecting both residents and workers. These measures contribute to public health, quality of life, and the city’s urban appearance.

The project combines infrastructure improvements with temporary employment opportunities, supporting the local economy and strengthening community resilience amid difficult economic conditions. It also reflects the municipality’s commitment to implementing projects with integrated development, service, environmental, and social impacts.
