Community rehabilitation – Dura Municipality

Department of Community Rehabilitation

The department was established in 2014 to work on following up and assisting social and humanitarian cases in the city in all health, educational, social and economic aspects, following up on people with disabilities of all ages and all disabilities, and providing the necessary services to them through communication with local community institutions and relevant authorities.

 This department works on:

Coordination and networking with various governmental, non-governmental and human rights institutions with the aim of joint work and pressure to provide the necessary services

Follow up on social cases and communicate with them to provide them with appropriate services based on the recommendations of the Social Committee in the Municipality of Dura, where there is continuous communication with the cases

Urging local media to play a serious role in awareness, education and advocacy towards humanitarian issues and the rights of persons with disabilities

Facilitating the access of social cases and people with disabilities to opportunities to obtain health services, such as health insurance, and to opportunities for integration into education, and facilitating their access to opportunities to earn a livelihood and a decent life by providing livelihood projects through coordination with institutions

Strengthening the capabilities of the local community so that it is able to deal constructively with social and disability issues.

Promoting a culture of civil rights and societal accountability and thus a democratic culture

Forming self-support groups of people with disabilities and their families, training and empowering them to put pressure on officials and decision-makers

Involving people with disabilities, the elderly, youth, women and children in various community activities in order to enhance their participation in various aspects of political, economic, social and cultural life.

Participation of local councils and associations in social responsibility towards all issues.

Strengthening local communities’ ownership of the community rehabilitation process so that rehabilitation services are available and provided by the local community.

Transferring people with disabilities to benefit from rehabilitation services, such as transferring people with disabilities to benefit from the rehabilitation services provided by the Dura Municipality Rehabilitation Center, physical therapy sessions, speech sessions, occupational therapy sessions, and evaluations.

Building the capabilities and empowerment of people with disabilities and their families by integrating them into activities, training them, and working to direct them to benefit from the available services.

The department’s work is followed up and coordinated under the directives of the municipal director

The necessary plans and programs are developed to develop the department and improve its performance in cooperation with the competent authorities and various community institutions
