Awareness Meeting Held for Participants in “First National Dura Mass Wedding”
As preparations continue for the “First National Dura Mass Wedding,” Dura Municipality, in partnership with the Dura City Youth Council, organized an awareness and dialogue session today for participants in the initiative. The meeting aimed to strengthen communication with the participants and prepare them for the next stage through a program addressing several key aspects related to married life and family formation.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Council members Eng. Ghina Al-Namoura, Eng. Amal Al-Awawdeh, and Eng. Haya Amr, along with Judge Sheikh Tawfiq Abu Hashem, a member of Palestine’s Supreme Sharia Court; Dr. Khaled Al-Sarhanah, Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences in Al-Dhahiriya; Ms. Isra Abu Zneid, Director of the Family Counseling and Reconciliation Department at Dura Sharia Court; and Dr. Maram Nassar of Medical Relief.
Dura Mayor Eng. Muhannad Amr affirmed that the “First National Dura Mass Wedding,” scheduled to be launched and celebrated on October 3, will be a celebration worthy of Dura, its people, and its authentic community, reflecting the spirit of love, solidarity, and unity that characterizes the city.
Amr noted that this initiative, being organized for the first time in Dura, will serve as a starting point for similar initiatives in the coming years. He emphasized that Dura Municipality, the city’s institutions, and its residents will stand alongside the newlyweds, helping make the occasion a distinctive national day filled with joy, happiness, and cherished memories.
He added that the mass wedding embodies some of the finest forms of partnership and social responsibility, reaffirming Dura’s commitment to supporting its young people as they take their first steps toward building stable and cohesive families.
The meeting included dialogue and awareness sessions addressing the foundations of married life, shared responsibilities between spouses, and the importance of mutual understanding and communication. It also covered the social, legal, and health aspects associated with starting a family, while giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and engage in open discussions with specialists.
The meeting was part of a series of preparations and activities being carried out by Dura Municipality and the Youth Council ahead of the “First National Dura Mass Wedding.” The initiative’s vision extends beyond simply holding a wedding ceremony, presenting instead a community initiative that places youth, family, and social stability at the heart of its priorities.
