Dura Municipality Discusses Media Arrangements with Minister Ahmad Assaf for First National Dura Mass Wedding
Dura Mayor Eng. Muhannad Amr and members of the municipal council met with Minister Ahmad Assaf, General Supervisor of Official Media, to discuss ways to strengthen media cooperation and coordination between Dura Municipality and the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), as well as arrangements for media coverage of the “First National Dura Mass Wedding” events.
The meeting addressed preparations underway for the celebration and mechanisms for cooperation and coordination to ensure media coverage that reflects the significance of this community and national initiative. The coverage is intended to highlight its goal of supporting young people preparing to marry and promoting the values of solidarity, cooperation, and social responsibility.
The mayor stressed the important role played by Palestinian official media in reporting on the issues of cities and local communities and highlighting national, developmental, and community initiatives. He noted that the “First National Dura Mass Wedding” represents a model of joint action bringing together the municipality, institutions, the private sector, and members of the city both in Palestine and in the diaspora to support young people and ease the financial burdens associated with establishing their family lives.
The two sides also discussed prospects for launching joint initiatives and programs between Dura Municipality and the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation in the coming period. Such initiatives would help spotlight Dura’s development, economic, and cultural potential, convey the concerns and needs of its residents, and strengthen the city’s presence in national media.
During the meeting, the mayor and members of the municipal council conveyed to Minister Assaf the greetings of Dura and its residents, as well as their appreciation for the role played by official media in presenting the Palestinian narrative and conveying the voices and concerns of citizens. They stressed that Dura looks forward to media coverage that reflects its status, history, population, and national role, as well as to an effective partnership with Palestine TV that highlights the city’s success stories, initiatives, and talents.
Amr emphasized that the municipality views the media as a key partner in development and in strengthening communication with citizens. He underscored the importance of building sustainable cooperation with the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation that goes beyond covering events and occasions to producing joint initiatives and media content that serve the city and its residents and reflect its national identity and character.
For his part, Minister Ahmad Assaf welcomed cooperation with Dura Municipality and discussed with the mayor and council members ways to coordinate efforts to ensure successful media coverage of the celebration, in addition to expanding areas of joint cooperation in a manner that serves the mission of national media and strengthens the presence of local and community initiatives.
Dura Municipality affirmed that the “First National Dura Mass Wedding” represents more than a celebratory event. It is a community initiative aimed at fostering a culture of solidarity and bringing together energies and efforts in support of young people, with the goal of creating a national model that originates in Dura and carries a message of cooperation and hope to cities across Palestine
