
Dura Municipality and French City of Nîmes Explore Twinning and Partnership Opportunities
Dura Municipality held a meeting via Zoom with representatives of the French Municipality of Nîmes to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and the possibility of building a partnership that could eventually lead to a formal twinning arrangement between the two cities.
The meeting was attended by Dura Deputy Mayor Eng. Limor Al-Sous, Municipal Council members Dr. Ahmad Al-Suwaiti and Dr. Bassam Doudin, along with representatives from several relevant municipal departments and units. Also attending were Ms. Hayat Rajoub, Head of the French Language Department in the Hebron and Bethlehem Governorates, and Mr. Lotfi Hammad, a representative of Wallah We Can Foundation.
The two sides discussed several areas of potential cooperation, including support for the agricultural sector and strengthening farmers’ resilience, education, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, healthcare, and the exchange of expertise in municipal affairs and local development. They also explored the possibility of developing the relationship through an effective twinning framework based on joint projects and programs.
The meeting was supported and coordinated by Wallah We Can Foundation, which helped establish communication channels between the two cities. Representatives of the Municipality of Nîmes expressed interest in developing the relationship and strengthening cooperation with Dura and other Palestinian cities.
Dura Municipality emphasized the importance of this step as the beginning of a new path toward international partnership. The municipality also expressed its intention to continue coordination with Nîmes, identify shared priorities, and work toward turning the ideas discussed into practical projects and initiatives.
